Rīgas satiksme invites students to extend their discount recipient status
For most students, the first semester of this academic year has already ended and the new spring semester has started. Rīgas satiksme invites students who are continuing their studies at one of Riga's universities to extend the validity period of their student status on their e-tickets so that they can continue to purchase discounted tickets for public transport.
The student status on the e-ticket is granted until the expiry date of the student ID card, so when extending the student ID card, the expiry date of the student status on the e-ticket must also be extended.
There are two ways to extend the student status:
- by submitting an application for extension of the discount recipient status in the information system of your higher education institution (e.g. University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Turība University, BA School of Business and Finance, Riga Stradiņš University, Transport and Telecommunication Institute, Latvian Academy of Culture, Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, Art Academy of Latvia, RSU Red Cross Medical College). Once you have received the confirmation, you need to go to one of the ticket vending machines and activate your student status;
- by submitting an application at any of the five Rīgas satiksme customer service centres. When going to a customer service centre, you should take with you an identity document, a valid student ID card or a certificate from the institution (electronically signed certificates should be sent to sekretariats@rigassatiksme.lv, indicating the address of the customer service centre where you will go to apply for the discount).
